Western Washington Economic Opportunity - serving the economically disadvantaged

 

Clark County, Grays Harbor County, Island County, King CountyMason County, Pierce County Skagit County Thurston County, Whatcom County

 

Washington Service Corps members assist in identifying the unmet needs relating to economic opportunity for economically disadvantaged individuals, including homeless individuals, within communities, through activities such as:

  • Assisting individuals in obtaining access to health services;
  • Assisting in construction, rehabilitation, or preservation of housing units, including energy efficient homes;
  • Assisting in obtaining access to job placement assistance;
  • Researching and obtaining information about Federal, State, local or private programs focused on low-income families, economically disadvantaged individuals and children;
  • Facilitating enrollment in and completion of job training;
  • Carrying out a program that seeks to eliminate hunger in low-income communities and rural areas;
  • Involving food banks that provide food during emergencies;
  • Providing training in basic health, nutrition, and life skills to alleviate hunger in communities and rural areas; and
  • Assisting with providing information on federally supported nutrition programs
