- Check System Clock-Double click the time. (Usually located in the bottom right corner of your computer screen.) Verify that your system clock is set to the current date.
- Pop-Up Blocker-UIFastTax attempts to open a secure connection using port 443 to fortress.wa.gov (currently at 198.239.146.19), this is done using MSINET.ocx which fails if a dialog box or pop up message is encountered.
If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer, you must open IE to resolve. Open a secure site such as our ePay site and watch for any pop-up messages. In the pop-up message, click the box that says "Don't show this message in the future." If the pop-up message says you have an outdated certificate, follow the instructions described in Number 5 below. - Digital Certificate-You may need to install a digital certificate before you can successfully connect to ESD's server. Use the following steps to install:
- Even if you normally use Netscape as your Internet browser, open Internet Explorer and use IE to install the digital certificate.
- Click Download Current VeriSign Root Certificate Authority.
- When the file download dialog box appears, choose "Run this program from it's current location" or "Open".
- Choose "Install Certificate", then follow the wizard to complete the certificate installation.

this will open an Internet session to our server, which will allow UIFastTax to properly connect.
Note: AOL© users with Windows 95, 98 or ME operating systems may experience resource issues. (often seen as "illegal operation" or other errors), if so, it is recommended you use the File Offline feature in UIFastTax.
- Mail CD or diskette-As a work-around, submit your file using the mail CD or diskette method. In UIFastTax at the Submit Report screen, select the "Mail CD or diskette" option. This option will allow you to save your file to CD or diskette and mail it to the Employment Security Department.
