What is a customer identification number?
To help reduce identity theft, we remove your Social Security number (SSN) from most of the unemployment documents we send you. Your SSN is replaced with a customer identification number (ID).You must still use your SSN when using the Internet or calling the claims center and Automated Claims Line.
Note: on 12/16/11 customer ID numbers will be changed from beginning with "88" to beginning with "95." The change does not affect your claim. We must do this because the Social Security Administration began issuing new SSNs beginning with "8" in July 2011 and we have to modify our systems to accept them.
