OLYMPIA – Time is running out to get free Microsoft training. There are still thousands of training certificates available, but they must be activated by July 31, 2009.
The free Microsoft training is being distributed through local WorkSource career centers and are available to any Washington resident. Most jobs these days require at least some computer skills and brushing up on those skills can make a job-seeker more marketable.
“People may think these training certificates went really fast, but we still have a lot on hand,” said Employment Security Commissioner Karen Lee. “I encourage anyone who wants this free training to visit a WorkSource office right away.”
There are three types of certificates being offered by Microsoft:
· Training for business users on a variety of Microsoft XP, Vista and Office programs.
· Training for IT professionals and developers.
· Certifications exams for Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007.
All of the certificates must be activated online by July 31, 2009.
The e-learning certificates must be used within 12 months after they are activated. The certification exam certificates must be used by August 31, 2009.

WorkSource is a partnership of the Employment Security Department and other state, local and nonprofit agencies that work together to provide free employment and training services to all job seekers and employers.
