OLYMPIA -  The Employment Security Department has named Carl Smith as the director of its Seattle-King County WorkSource area.

Smith is a life-long Seattle resident and a leader in many community organizations. For the past 20 years, he has been an organizational and human-resource consultant.

As WorkSource area director, Smith is responsible for managing employment services provided at WorkSource offices in Seattle and King County and coordinating with local workforce development efforts.

“We feel very lucky that Carl has agreed to head our WorkSource operations in King County,” said Employment Security Commissioner Karen Lee.  “To be successful, our WorkSource system has to have close ties with the community, and Carl is great at building and maintaining those relationships.”

Smith began his new position on April 2.
