TACOMA – Tacoma-area employers can learn about their rights and responsibilities when hiring individuals with disabilities at a seminar on Jan. 31.
The class is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pierce County Workforce Development Council, 3650 S. Cedar St., Tacoma.
The program will cover the employment provisions of the American with Disabilities Act and a proven seven-step process for “reasonably accommodating” employees’ disabilities.
The featured speaker is John Patrick Evans, a nationally recognized speaker on reasonable accommodation and disability employment specialist with the Washington State Division for Vocational Rehabilitation.
“This training is ideal for business owners, hiring authorities and human resource professionals,” said Pam Cone, manager of the WorkSource Business Connection. “It will provide useful information and tools to make sound decisions around reasonable accommodation.”
The registration fee, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $50 per person or $40 each for groups of three or more people. Space is limited, so those interested should register early.
The “7 Steps to Reasonable Accommodation” seminar is sponsored by the WorkSource Business Connection and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
WorkSource is a partnership of business, government agencies, colleges and non-profits that offer career services for job seekers and business.
