VANCOUVER – Vancouver-area businesses and WorkSource are teaming up to help veterans and National Guard and Reserve members find good jobs.

A “Hire-A-Vet First” job fair is set for June 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at WorkSource Vancouver Town Plaza, 5411 E. Mill Plain Blvd.  There is no charge for admission.

More than 30 employers will participate, including United Rentals, Harris Transportation, Home Depot, Interstate Wood Products, Southwest Washington Medical Center, Ram’s Specialized Security, Safeway, Universal Mortgage and WaferTech, to name a few.  Government job opportunities with Washington state, Seattle-King County and the Portland V.A. Medical Center also will be showcased.

“This is more than an information fair,” said Beth Hammer, a business liaison for WorkSource Vancouver.  “All participating businesses are actively recruiting and hiring, and they offer good family-wage jobs.”

Applicants should bring copies of their resume and come ready to interview with recruitment specialists.  WorkSource staff also will be available to provide advice and assistance with resumes, interviewing and training opportunities.

WorkSource Vancouver is a partnership of business, government agencies, colleges and non-profit organizations that offers career services for job seekers and business.

The veterans’ job fair is open to the public.  For additional information, contact Beth Hammer at (360) 735-4979 or visit the WorkSource Web site at www.go2worksource.com.
