OLYMPIA – Andrea Archer has been named the area director for the Employment Security Department for Kitsap, Jefferson and Clallam counties.
“Andrea has more than 20 years of management experience in both business and government. This gives her good insight, both on what private employers need and how to make it happen in the public sector,” said Karen Lee, Employment Security commissioner.
Employment Security provides more than $3.5 million a year in employment and training resources to the Olympic area. Archer will be responsible for managing WorkSource offices in Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties, which serve more than 38,000 customers each year. She also will represent the department on the Olympic Consortium Workforce Development Council.
Archer most recently served as an assistant director for the Department of Licensing, where she was responsible for 11 boards and commissions and 200 employees. She provided oversight to 28 different professions regulating some 270,000 individuals and businesses.
“The key to our success is just like any other business,” said Archer. “The first contact sets the customers’ perception of the entire system. Our focus will be on providing meaningful and effective services to everyone who walks through the door.”
Archer said that she looks forward to being an active member of the Olympic workforce development system and working in her hometown of Bremerton. Archer and her husband, Jon, reside in Gig Harbor and have a 3-year-old son, Nicholas.
