Veteran services
Q. What services are available for military veterans?
A.
WorkSource helps some 24,000 veterans find jobs each year. At a WorkSource center, veterans and their families have access to:
- Job listings, referrals and hiring events
- Résumé and application assistance
- Special programs and workshops
- Internet access for job searches
- Copiers, fax machines, phones and other office equipment.
WorkSource also assigns employees to help veterans, including disabled veterans, find jobs. Veterans who are looking for work can contact their
local WorkSource office or call 800-562-2308.
Q. What is the Hire-A-Vet Challenge?
A.
Employment Security Commissioner Karen Lee, First Gentleman Mike Gregoire and leaders from business, labor and government launched the Hire-A-Vet Challenge in April 2006 to encourage Washington businesses to hire National Guard and Reserve members who are returning from war or other active-duty assignments. Employers that are interested in hiring veterans but don’t know where to start, as well as veterans who are looking for work, should contact their local WorkSource office or call 800-562-2308.
