The opportunity
WorkSource Mason County is seeking a Business Services Specialist to provide outreach to local businesses, market WorkSource services, and build and develop partnerships with businesses that include the use of WorkSource services.
Major duties
- Provides labor exchange and business services by advising employers about the best methods when using the labor exchange system to maximize their efforts in hiring qualified applicants.
- Performs all job order functions in compliance with Federal, State and local laws and requirements.
- Utilizes the Quality Content and Format Standards to establish a professional, consistent job order appearance.
- Utilizes Services, Knowledge and Information Exchange System (SKIES) to create and manage WA job orders.
- Performs outreach to employer contacts based on data systems using O*NET codes, targeted populations and agency policy.
- Enters required information accurately and timely in SKIES to reflect performance.
- Provides core services to general WorkSource customers as well as program participants as scheduled.
- Assists job seekers with the use of multiple computer applications, including WinWay Resume, WorkForce Explorer, assessment tools, Go2WorkSource.com and Go2UI.com.
- Facilitates the Job Hunter class series.
- Maintains a productive and collaborative relationship with both staff and customers.
- Attends and actively participates in WorkSource Mason County staff meetings and local/regional business meetings.
Required qualifications
One year as a WorkSource Specialist 2 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or in another state’s employment security agency.
or
A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as: unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement, banking, and real estate.
or
A master's degree.
Additional experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work will substitute, year for year, for education, but not for the two years of professional experience.
College course work will substitute, year for year, for the required years of experience specified above. Qualifying volunteer experience in the above defined areas of work is acceptable.
Desired qualifications
Preference will be given to those applicants that demonstrate the following in their letter of interest:
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in both group and individual settings with diverse populations.
- Familiarity and ease in conducting effective interviews that include recruiting and engaging business customers into a system that provides a multitude of services to meet their needs.
- Experience working in a team-based environment coupled with a history of establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships with management, peers, partners and customers.
- Competence in implementing quality process initiatives by utilizing assigned tools and desk aids that ensure customer satisfaction.
- Skilled in Microsoft computer applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point and ESD's Services, Knowledge and Information Exchange System (SKIES), and internet sites such as go2worksource.com and WorkForce Explorer.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment demonstrating flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
