The opportunity
WorkSource Affiliate Rainier is recruiting for two WorkSource Specialists to provide the entire range of services to our unemployed customers including assessments, job matching, job referring, and job developing.

Major duties

  • Performs professional duties and ensures the resolution of complex customer issues.
  • Responsible for and maintains day to day operations directly associated with unemployment insurance and the Claimant Placement program as necessary.
  • Assists unemployment insurance applicants in all aspects of unemployment needs; interprets and implements policies and procedures.
  • Shares information about programs, services and referrals provided by WorkSource partners to WorkSource customers/claimants.
  • Gathers and maintains pertinent customer information in Services, Knowledge and Information Exchange System (SKIES) system.
  • Uses the General Unemployment-Insurance (UI) Design Effort (GUIDE) to report activity to UI Telecenter.
  • Interviews clients and evaluates work history and education for employment opportunities.
  • Assesses and interprets employment and economic data regarding labor market conditions, occupational demand, wages, etc.
  • Applies knowledge of UI eligibility to identify adjustment issues and when appropriate conduct fact-finding interviews.

Required qualifications
One year as a WorkSource Specialist 2 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or in another state’s employment security agency.

or

A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as: unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement, banking, and real estate.

or

A master's degree.

Additional experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work will substitute, year for year, for education, but not for the two years of professional experience.

College course work will substitute, year for year, for the required years of experience specified above. Qualifying volunteer experience in the above defined areas of work is acceptable.

Desired qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate the following experience/skills in their letter of interest:

  • Experience with interviewing techniques and principles.
  • Experience interpreting regulations and quidelines.
  • Experience evaluating job readiness of clients by conducting individual assessment and evaluation of individual’s employment and training needs.
  • Experience monitoring and recording data into multiple management information systems.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding and working knowledge of job matching, referral and placement, job readiness, assessment techniques, labor market, community resources, and job search techniques.
