The opportunity
WorkSource Everett is seeking a WorkSource Specialist to provide re-employment services to job seekers receiving unemployment insurance benefits by conducting in-depth interviews and providing job referrals, placement services and information regarding agency and partner programs.

Major duties

  • Greet customers reporting for unemployment insurance specific activities; track attendance; review customer required paperwork for completion and accuracy; and provide direction as necessary.
  • Perform professional labor exchange and re-employment duties in the delivery of direct core services to job seekers.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews and document initial assessment/work history information into Services, Knowledge and Information Exchange System (SKIES).
  • Provide resume review, job matching, job referrals/employment referrals or make appropriate referral to meet the training and employment needs of the job seeker.
  • Provide information and answer questions to educate unemployment insurance customers one-on-one or in groups about options, services and/or resources available to meet individual employment goals.
  • Track customer work experience activity.
  • Provide organizational support to administrative assistant: coordinate monthly supply purchases; back up for payroll, timesheets, and equipment maintenance.
  • Support Trade Act program and assist case manager with preparation and delivery of Trade Act orientations.
  • Assist Administrative Assistant with staff payroll and timesheet duties; monthly supply ordering and purchases and equipment maintenance.
  • Support Title V program and perform quality control of all new program enrollees and continuous quality audit checks on program participant files.
  • Process timesheets and assist with payroll duties; assist with maintenance of client database; process and check accuracy of support service requests and create A-19 invoices.

Required qualifications
One year as a WorkSource Specialist 1 or in an equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or in another state’s employment security agency.

or 

A bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as: unemployment insurance, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement, banking, or real estate.

Additional experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work as defined above will substitute, year for year, for education, but not for the one year of professional experience.

Three years of experience with the Employment Security Department, at a level of Secretary Administrative or above, may substitute for the one-year of professional experience.

Volunteer experience in the above defined areas of work is acceptable.

Desired qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in both group and individual settings.
  • Experience developing and writing job openings.
  • Experience evaluating job readiness of clients by conducting individual assessment and evaluation of individual’s employment and training needs.
  • Experience monitoring and recording data into multiple management information systems.
  • Experience with interviewing techniques and principles.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding and working knowledge of job matching, referral and placement, job readiness, assessment techniques, labor market, community resources, and job search techniques.
