The Wenatchee district tax office is seeking an Unemployment Insurance Tax Administrator 2 to administer unemployment-tax programs to Wenatchee-area employers and to manage overall operations of the district tax office.

Unemployment Insurance Division profile
The Unemployment Insurance division administers and provides program services through statewide TeleCenters and its Web site. This division collects premiums from Washington employers and pays UI benefits to individuals who meet eligibility requirements. It also reviews, audits, and investigates instances of fraud.

The opportunity
As an Unemployment Insurance Tax Administrator 2, you will manage the operations of the Wenatchee district tax office, serve as the principal assistant to the district tax office manager, and supervise three tax specialists. You will provide senior-level professional unemployment-insurance (UI) tax services. You will respond to technical program queries from our business community, reporting agents, legal representatives, out-of-state businesses, other state or federal agencies, and UI-benefit recipients.

our supervisory role will include coaching, training, and mentoring staff in a variety of UI-tax sub-programs, including auditing, adjusting tax and wage records, collecting outstanding receivables, maintaining accounts, resolving monetary issues on blocked benefit claims, and community outreach and education. You will establish and track performance measurements for our team.

Required qualifications
A bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration or a closely allied field, including a minimum of 12 semester (or 18 quarter) hours of college-level accounting, and three years of experience in the employer tax field.

Additional qualifying experience may be substituted, year for year, for the degree.

Travel Requirement: This position requires travel within Washington state 25 percent of the time.

Desired qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or math is preferred. Top candidates will have demonstrated experience in: auditing and/or accounting; communicating with a diverse customer base; organizational and prioritization skills that result in timely customer responses; writing clear and concise reports and correspondence; analyzing information; and working as a team to meet performance goals. The most successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of unemployment-insurance tax law; will be a highly proficient user of Microsoft Word and Excel; and will have experience using the Web to conduct research. Supervisor experience is preferred.
