How applications are processed
This is our process for screening and certifying applicants:
- Applications sent to hrrecruiting@esd.wa.gov are received and checked for completeness. Each e-mail message containing an attachment will receive an auto-reply confirming receipt. Please see Frequently Asked Questions for possible AOL and Hotmail user exceptions.
- Applicants will receive feedback if their original message was not received before the 5 p.m. cutoff on the date of closing.
- After the closing date, applicants are first screened on the quality and completeness of their application packages then on the required and desired qualifications, as outlined in the original job posting.
- In about 10 to 14 business days after the date of closing, the recruitment team will compile a list of those applicants certified for further consideration. For represented positions, the number of certified candidates is limited by the Washington State Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Typically, e-mails are sent to each candidate, updating them on the status of their application.
- The hiring manager will review applications and decide who to interview. There is no set timeframe for this step. Usually candidates will hear within two weeks if they have been selected for an interview, but it may be longer.
- The Human Resource Services Division (HRSD) will not have information regarding the hiring process once the certification has been completed. All communication regarding the process will come from the hiring manager.
