We are seeking an Employment Security Program Assistant to support a team who conduct audits and investigations in the Unemployment Insurance Performance Audit unit.

Unemployment Insurance Division profile
The Unemployment Insurance division administers and provides program services through statewide TeleCenters and its Web site. This division collects premiums from Washington employers and pays UI benefits to individuals who meet eligibility requirements. It also reviews, audits, and investigates instances of fraud.

The opportunity
As an Employment Security Program Assistant, one of your primary duties will be to extract selected cases from a database and assemble case files to be used by investigators in conducting their investigations in the Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) program.  You will provide assistance in researching casework and assist the Work Search Verification Program Coordinator I.  You will provide all clerical support for the unit such as completing and tracking personnel paperwork, travel coordination, and monitoring the unit’s budget.  You will actively participate in problem solving work groups related to Unemployment Insurance Performance Audits (UIPA).  You will review forms and documents for accuracy and completeness.  You will also review statistical reports of agency staff for productivity and other agency standards.

Required qualifications
One year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 1 or Tax Specialist 1 - ES or equivalent.

OR

Four years of experience performing employment and training or unemployment insurance related duties with at least two years at the third clerical level or above.

College‑level course work may be substituted, year for year, for experience.

Desired qualifications
We are seeking reliable candidates with highly proficient technical skills in the following software tools: Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  Experience using the internet as a research tool is essential.  Candidates with experience using intranet systems and GUIDE will be given preference.  Accurate data entry skills and strong business writing skills are key to the success of this position.  Experience completing one budget cycle with Employment Security would be preferred.
